Frequently Asked Questions

Many questions come up time and again, so here we try to address them in advance and provide you with the information you need.

Our trips are generally easy going and physically undemanding. However, it is sometimes necessary to 'go off piste' for the best shots, which may mean scrabbling around on rocks, crossing steams or burns for a better position. We will always be there to help or give a hand, but it is something to be aware of.

Our winter trips to Finland and Scotland can involve walking in deep snow.

In Scotland, the weather can be extreme and the workshop may require negotiating steep slopes that may be icy or snow covered and crossing fast flowing burns with stepping stones. We recommend walking poles for this trip.

We will never take risks, but sometimes more extreme weather can give the best pictures.

Our workshops and holidays are tiny - we generally have between 3 and 6 guests, so it is important that everyone has similar aims and objectives. For example we generally take a relaxed approach to these trips and find and photograph what we see. We generally discourage people who have a checklist of species they have to see and photograph.

We frequently spend many hours in close proximity, both in vehicles and hides, so if everyone gets along together we all have a much more enjoyable time.

We like to talk to all our potential customers before confirming a booking. Once we have spoken and the booking is confirmed, we are happy to take payment via BACs.

We always talk to our potential guests before confirming a booking so, if we feel a trip is too advanced, we will be honest with you and offer solutions or an alternative option.

For example Scotland is suitable for complete begginers, as are our 1:1 and small group workshops, wheras the trips to Finland require a degree of experience to be able to get good pictures.
