Wildlife & Landscape Photography holiday in the Scottish Highlands

Capture Stunning Birds, Mammals & Scenery

Epic photography - Optional tuition

The Scottish Highlands are a paradise for wildlife and landscape photography, offering breathtaking scenery and the chance to photograph some of the UK’s most iconic birds and mammals throughout the seasons. Whether you're capturing the vibrant summer seabirds along the coast or the elusive Mountain Hares in the snowy hills, every moment in the Highlands is a photographer’s dream.

Seasons for Wildlife & Bird Photography in the Scottish Highlands

Spring & Summer

Spot Red Squirrels, Ospreys (from April onwards), and Puffins, alongside a variety of other seabirds along the dramatic cliffs. Year-Round Predators: Both Golden Eagles and White-tailed Eagles soar over the rugged landscapes, offering breathtaking photography opportunities. Mountain & Coastal Wildlife: We venture into the hills to track and photograph Mountain Hares and Ptarmigan, while the lochs and coastal waters host Divers, a variety of Sea Ducks, and regularly, Otters.

Autumn & Winter

The landscapes transform with golden light, misty mornings, and snow-capped peaks—perfect for moody landscape photography and encounters with Red Deer in their seasonal rut.

Immersive Photography Experiences in the Highlands

We travel across some of the most stunning locations in the Scottish Highlands, ensuring our guests have the chance to photograph both the wildlife and the breathtaking scenery that makes this region so unique. Unlike other areas of the UK, the Highlands offer dramatic mountain vistas, vast moorlands, wild coastlines, and pristine lochs, creating picture-perfect compositions at every turn.

Our small group sizes (3-5 people max) allow for a relaxed pace, ensuring everyone can fully appreciate the experience, scenery, and wildlife while capturing incredible images. With expert guidance, there’s plenty of time to focus on technique, composition, and creativity.

Testimonials

Our previous guests give you the picture:

"First of all, sincere thanks for the big effort you made to ensure the success of last week's sojourn at Grantown-on-Spey. You really pulled out all the stops to make the trip a memorable occasion for all the participants. The Grant Arms Hotel was first class and a homely place, created by the friendly, helpful and attentive people who were on duty at reception and in the restaurant.

From a photographic point of view, the variety of subject matter was great and created challenges for everyone to work on. Your own expertise and knowledge was invaluable and I certainly enjoyed the evening chats based around the subject matter of the day."

RW September 2022

Phil from Halifax, February 2023

"Thank you Nick for a really great few days in the Cairngorms. Seeing Grouse, Mountain Hare, Snow Bunting and Crested tits was amazing, but the icing on the cake was the White tailed eagle."
"Getting away from other photographers and birders was really great, particularly liked the Red squirrel hide, Bow Fiddle Rock and the other beach"
